A Very Special Evening with Frank Strona

Just past World AIDS Day, the Center for Sex & Culture announces a special reception to honor one of our own long time friends (and CSC Advisory Board member) Frank Strona. Frank’s diverse and cutting-edge community-inspired career has helped him be recognized as a recent recipient of a prestigious Mentor of the year Award from the Society for Public Health Education. While Frank’s Mentor Award acknowledges his role as an academic and leader, CSC invites you to locally celebrate his many years of work, and dedication as an unaplogetic pro-sex advocate, fetish/kink trainer and HIV/STD prevention specialist, whose roots extend deeply into the Bay Area’s diverse and richly unique communities.

Come celebrate, share and learn from Frank’s many contributions that have prompted hot, sexually progressive change. Hear about the latest ways to create a personal sexual health plan that includes best practices, sensuality and communication. Come loaded with your questions about staying healthy and sexually vital!

When we spoke with Frank after our recent appeal and he offered to do donate the door to any of his classes to support CSC, we got to talking about his recent projects and the award. We realized anew what generous and talented folks consider CSC family, and that we can play a role in recognizing one of our own and spreading the word about how fabulous he, and our community, is.

Since this isn’t a formal CSC workshop, and will include opportunities for everyone to mingle, talk and share, Frank asked us to make the event a “donation at the door” so that it was accessible to all and at the same time gives back to CSC

PS–We’re planning special programming with Frank in 2010, including a series of lively, challenging, hot conversations exploring current issues in our pro-sex communities. Get in on the ground floor at this sneak preview celebration and tell Frank what you’re talking about (and not talking about!) with your trusted friends and lovers–help us take on the issues that no one wants to admit having an opinion on.
