Transgender Economic Empowerment Initiative (TEEI)

TEEI helps transgender individuals achieve financial self sufficiency through stable employment in jobs providing a living wage and benefits, with opportunities for advancement. TEEI Partners include the Center, JVS, Transgender Law Center, and SF TEAM. For more information, visit our collaborative TEEI website.

TEEI participants have access to:

  • One-on-one job counseling with a vocational specialist in the trans community.
  • Full range of our Mentorship from a successful peer professional or ally who can offer both personal support and career networking opportunities.
  • A network of local trans-friendly employers looking to hire from the community.
  • Employment resources.
  • Legal advice on identity documentation and rights in the workplace.

Clair’s Drop-in
Every Wednesday from 1pm to 4pm at the Center, one-on-one peer based mentoring for transgender and genderqueer community members.

TEEI Job Search Planning
Every First Thursday, 3:00-4:30pm at the Center. Job searching is a job in itself! To get the job that’s perfect for you, you don’t only need to know how to do the job. You also need to know how to get the job. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have a practical job search action plan. This workshop is required for individuals beginning 1-on-1 job search support with TEEI.

Every Third Thursday, 5:30-7:00pm at the Center. (Topic varies by month including resumes, cover letters, networking skills, computer training, and interviewing skills).

Transgender Law Center Workshop
Every Fourth or Third Wednesday from 5:30-7pm. Location and topic varies by month, including How to Change Your Identification Documents, Employment Law 101, Trans Health Law and more.

Trans-Spirituality Gathering
Every First Monday, from 6pm to 8pm at the Center, a gathering designed to empower the transgender population by engaging the Spirit! Each month is dedicated to a new topic by engaging via lecture, interaction, meditation, short films, book readings, etc.

Trans Community Socials
Monthly, time and location varies every month. Open to all trans and genderqueer people and allies.
