We see gay people; we just have to prove it to ICANN

We see gay people; we just have to prove it to ICANN

Business
Community owned dotgay LLC applies to ICANN as the only Community-based TLD focusing on the Safety, Visibility and Support for the gay community June 14, 2012 (New York, NY) Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) individuals have always been early adopters when it comes to the Internet, instantly becoming a force in cyberspace with early adaptation of AOL and the “inter-gays” in the Far East. The scramble for “.gay” is on, but only one company is trying to create something different, a true benefit for the global gay community. The dotgay LLC application is community-based; supported by over 125 LGBT organizations, representing over 230,000 businesses and 7 million consumers. However, who will eventually run “.gay” is truly up in cyberspace. A battle is on between commercial and community interests and…

Israel, the gays and Equality Forum

Opinion
by Mark Segal The last couple of years have seen progressive LGBT people taking on issues other than equality, as well as bringing the debate into the community. Israel and the Palestinian cause has been a flashpoint. With Equality Forum in Philadelphia poised to honor Israel this May, several progressive blogs have denounced the organization and suggested the honor be withdrawn. Their argument is easy to appreciate: Israel’s oppression of the Palestinians and Palestinian state. Those progressives might have a point, but that point is misleading and downright anti-equality. Full disclosure: I’m Jewish, but also have been a member of “Peace Now,” an organization that has often been at odds with the Israeli government. I’ve traveled throughout the Middle East, and was one of the first LGBT reporters to do a…

Should we wait?

Opinion
Today, a coalition of LGBT groups warning that a federal lawsuit could set the fight for marriage back. What do you think? Here's what you told us - Since same-sex marriage will become legal anyway, so taking it to the US SC is as good a step as any. And yes, while interracial marriage laws changed at the federal level - it took about 300 years to get it there (anti-miscegenation statutes were codified in the late 1600s!) Without having read the release, it's suspect. I am afraid that the groups lobbying on our part have fallen prey to the fund raising curse - "let's get all the financial support we can and then take our time to get anything done."As has been repeatedly pointed out, if any other minority…
